Where to start
In order to start exploring the idea of starting your own business, you first need to think about your strengths, what you are good at and what type of business you want to create. The first step to doing this is to think about the following:

- List the things you are passionate about, your skills and your interests (the source of what you could build a business around and successfully develop)
- What products and/or services can I offer?
- What functions of the business can I do myself? What would I need support in doing?
- Do I feel confident creating a business from scratch or do I want to have a business with lots of support in place (franchise opportunities)
- What are my goals for the next 1, 3 and 5 years? Can I do this on my own or would it be more achievable with support from others (working with other people, franchise opportunities)
- How much do I have to invest in the new business (note: Franchise opportunities need initial investment as part of setting up, variable depending on the franchise)
